Early Out Checklist Update from Retirement Specialist Chuck Laterza
Dear Brothers and Sisters;
Attached you will find a new (tentative) presentation and checklist for the early out.
I had three mechanics who were advised by Mercer that they could take the Early Out by signing up on Jetnet. In Jetnet, "An Early Out Incentive Option" is listed but it takes you to a Stand in Stead only option for Title II members. I would recommend that each local check the Stand-in-Stead list to make sure our members did not sign for the Stand-in-Stead in error.
We need to make our members aware of "one option only" with AA Retiree Medical. If a member retires and has prefunded, AA will default the retiree into retiree medical during 2012. Due to the loss of prefunding and the large increase in 2013, members will be seeking other options (Spouse plan, UBP option, Affordable Care Act, etc). If they switch to another plan, they will have used up their one and only option with AA Retiree Medical. (Under the current rules, they will not be able to return to AA Retiree Medical at a later date.)
